Shapes.inc alternative

Characters that belong in your conversations.

Looking for a Shapes.inc alternative for your community? Verba is worth exploring when your priority is creating a character and bringing it into the channels you already use.

For the group, with a character of its own.

A shared assistant and a recurring community character solve different jobs. Here is the practical difference.

What you gain with Verba

Start with a personality, not only a task

Define a Verb’s identity, manner of speaking, and background. Give a community mascot or story character a consistent starting point, then adjust it through the dashboard as you learn what fits your group.

Connect the spaces you already use

Verba has connection modules for Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp, Slack, Twitch, and Email. Configure the relevant connection and permissions instead of assuming every group wants to move its conversation into a new app.

Make participation deliberate

Use behaviour and Autonomous Mode controls where supported to decide how your character joins conversations. Begin in a test channel, observe its replies, and adjust participation before inviting a whole community.

Before you switch

Is this based on the current Shapes product?

Yes. The official site reviewed for this guide focuses on group assistants. This comparison does not assume old Discord availability or claim that Shapes has been discontinued.

Can Verba join a Discord community?

Verba includes a Discord connection module for a character. You still need to configure the bot connection, channel access, and behaviour; connecting a service does not bypass that service’s rules or permissions.

Can I automatically move my Shapes history?

This guide does not promise a one-click importer. Bring over only character material you own or have permission to reuse, and manually recreate the essential setup before trying a new conversation.

Make your next character a Verb.

Sources and comparison notes

A shared assistant for planning and tasks is not automatically the right home for a recurring community persona. If your goal is a character with its own voice, organised reference material, and supported channel connections, Verba puts those decisions together in a character-focused workspace.

Shapes currently presents itself as a group-assistant product: friends share a chat, ask for help together, use web search, and work with files. Its site also describes proactive participation and connecting a computer or an agent. That is a useful starting point for collaborative tasks; it is not exactly the same brief as building a recurring community character.

This comparison is published by Verba, not an independent review site. Product descriptions were checked against official sources on 2026-10-13. This is not an exhaustive feature audit or a performance benchmark.

Check Verba’s current pricing, the documentation, and the other product’s current information. Features, model access, credits, and age requirements can change. Verba is not affiliated with or endorsed by Shapes.inc.
